project life - weeks 13-14

I'm a bit behind in sharing my Project Life pages. I'm pretty much caught up with the few weeks that I missed so I'm going to share the last couple weeks here & I may or may not go back & share previous layouts. We still have plenty of the year left for me to share pages with you guys!

So here's week 13:
The first part of the week was filled with my husband's birthday, baseball & packing for our trip to WA.
The second half of the layout I simply shared some pics & ephemera from our trip. Parking pass, napkin from a cool coffee place at one of the airports, airline receipts, postcard, etc. Fun stuff :)

Week 14:
This week is a bit more packed. In addition to the 'regular' pages I added 3 additional pages. You can see them peeking out from behind each other.
I took a 12x12 page protector that had 4x6 slots & cut it in half so I'd have 3 on each side. I used one for the house pics & one for the ultrasound pics. Then I also printed out some journaling of our house hunting trip, added some patterned paper & put that in an 8 1/2 x 11 page protector.

I also added some Avery file tabs for the 2 6x12 pages.
I used both sides of the layout for more pics from our WA trip. Honestly, we really didn't do much when we got home other than the baby's ultrasound so I didn't have any other pics for that week.

Journaling was typed on a shipping tag & stitched. I also did some journaling directly on the photos with a Sharpie.

Working on getting week 15 and my travel journal done before the movers get here & pack up all of my stuff this week!

project life - weeks 3-4

I know I haven't shared any Project Life pics in a while. I'm not too behind, I've just been working on bits & pieces from each week for the last few weeks.

week 3 - jan 23-29
100 days of school project, family game playing, Ben's award at school, puppy eating garlic, Netflix.

My son was 'Eagle of the Month' for January which is a citizenship award at school so in one of the pockets I put the folded up invitation.

week 4 - jan 30- feb 5
getting ready for baseball, sick boy, dr appt, birthday boy, daddy daughter dance, mommy/son date

This week ended up having multiple photos from just a few days rather than a photo for every single day.
I'll have more PL pages to share this week :)

Wednesday & Thursday POTD

{POTD}: picture of the day

It was quite cold outside this morning and when I came out to warm up my van I saw this on my window:
Yes, it does feel good to be told I'm a 'hot momma' while 19 weeks pregnant! hehe

And that brings me to yesterday's POTD:
Lots of shopping. I haven't done a big shopping trip in quite a while, like probably 2 mos. This is just from Target, I still need to do some grocery shopping. I've started stocking up on diapers and since they were on sale and I had coupons and there was a $5 Target gift card offer I bought 5 of them. Still not sure if I'm gonna try cloth diapers or not but I know that if I do I'm still going to use disposables when I'm outside of the house. Not gonna be lugging a poopy diaper home to wash later, that's for sure! But I'm intrigued by the concept of cloth & still trying to learn more. Honestly, if I were a baby I'd rather have cloth ones. Anyone have any tips, suggestions, done it before?? The upfront cost is a little scary but then when you think about how many diapers you go through in a week (esp with a newborn) it seems like it's worth it.

Oh, and that booster seat? It was $7.87! Can't you believe that?! I don't like using high chairs cause they're just an all around pain. I like the chairs that strap to your kitchen chair much better. The shelf said the price but I had to walk it over to one of the scanners cause I didn't believe it. I made sure to open it when I got home to make sure it wasn't a total piece of crap (you never know when a price is too good to be true, ya know?) But it seems decent..and if it only works for 6 mos who cares!

I'm hoping to be back with thrifty thursday. Remember that?? It's been a while, I know. But I managed to pick up some thrifty goodies this week that I want to share and I have am gazillion projects to work on.

Project Life - January weeks 1-3

So are you on the Project Life bandwagon?? Have you heard of it, do you know what I'm referring to?? If not, you can click here to check it out

I love the concept of this. Now, in my 'regular' scrapbooking I'm not an event only scrapper. I scrap the little everyday things, too. But here's my take on Project Life & why I'm doing this in addition to my regular layouts:

Not all of the 'everyday moments' are scrap worthy. This is a way to get all of our life moments in a scrapbook, like the kids' awards ceremonies at school, my scrap days, the kids playing games on the floor, etc. Each of these is not worthy of it's own layout but I still want that piece of history remembered.

I love the ability to take a real-time look into our day to day lives.

So that's why I'm doing it. I'm not necessarily doing a picture a day. My own philosophy is to have each 2pg layout be a snapshot of that week. Some layouts might actually have a picture a day, some might have a couple pics from one particular day.

Week 1:
I wanted to keep this album in a Sunday to Saturday format. So since January 1st was on a Saturday I just rolled that into the 1st week. Didn't matter anyway, we were in Disneyworld that whole week.
I grabbed some of my favorite photos along with some memorabelia that I kept from the trip.
Week 2:
As you can see I'm not quite finished with this layout. We had just gotten back from Disney & the kids had 2 snow days that week. I may go back and add a photo along with some cardstock to fill in the empty spaces. I may also try and find some news blurbs about the freezing rain we got that week.

Week 3:
I added the date in Photoshop to some of the photos (but not all). I also added a receipt from Panera (& how I fell on my arse during lunch!).
I'm also thinking about using PL for the baby's 1st year album. Still trying to decide what to do but I'm thinking that might be a neat way to do it. Only since I don't know if I'm having a boy or girl I'll have to wait til June to purchase another kit!

Updated - I ended up going ahead & purchasing the Turquoise kit for the baby. After looking through the kit I thought the journaling cards would work perfectly for a baby's first year album. And I will probably use my own album instead of the one that comes with a kit so I don't need to worry about it looking too 'boyish' if I have a girl!
