December Daily ~ finished!

(To see all of the posts for this album, click here)

It's done! This album has been bugging me for the last week. Not that it wasn't fun to do, it was. What's been bugging me is the fact that I had just 2 days left and it's been sitting unfinished. I can't stand unfinished projects, which is probably why I'm always stressing about things. Lately it seems as though my life is one big bowl of unfinished projects!! But, it's a new year and we all get to start over, right??!

So here's the last 2 days, Dec 24th & 25th

(the left side was from Dec 23rd)

And what the album looks like from the front just one more time

Do you know what I love about this album the most? The fact that every day throughout the holiday season was documented. Not every photo. Not every single memory. But little tidbits here and there which give a snapshot of our life last December. And now I don't feel stressed to scrapbook every single thing from the holidays. Because I know that if I don't get layouts done I still have them scrapbooked in this album.

This is definitely something that I'm going to do every year. So worth it and so easy and fun. One thing I will change next year is that I will choose a slightly larger album (this one was 6x6). I really like the white acrylic album Ali Edwards used but that one is no longer available. I'm thinking this one might work really well. I'm sure there will be some fun albums that come out this year that I can choose from. I've already jotted down in my Christmas notebook to get together my papers and embellishments ahead of time next year so that when December 1st rolls around I'm all ready to go!

Also, I'm about finished with my scrap room so I'll share pics of that either today or tomorrow. My room doesn't get good light until at least noon so I have to wait to take pics :)

December Daily ~ Days 16-23

Here's the rest of my December Daily album with the exception of Dec 24 & 25. I haven't done those pages yet but I'm sure I'll be finished with those soon. Until then, here's Dec 16~23!

We had a whole yard full of cardinals on the 18th and I managed to catch a few pics of this one before he flew away. It's hard to get pictures of the birds. By the time I grab my camera and ever-so-quietly raise the blinds, all while trying to keep the dogs from getting riled up and barking (because I'm running around the house trying to find where I left my camera), the birds are usually gone or too far away to get a good picture.

On this page I added an envelope to hold recipes of the treats I made this year.

When I originally put this book together in November I held it together with 3 inch rings (since the smaller ones were just too small). And at the time I thought they were SO big, that this book would never be thick enough for them. Wow, was I wrong!

I'm so glad I used the bigger rings! And keep in mind for most days I only added a picture or 2 and minimal embellishments. This album gets big fast!

December Daily catch up ~ Days 8-15

Last night I stayed up late working on my December Daily album. I've discovered one helpful hint in working on this album. If you're not going to do this on a daily basis it's probably best that you still print out your photos on a daily basis and jot down the date on the back. I uploaded a bunch of photos online to be printed. Then when I got them home I had to go back and figure out what photos were for which days. Or, another idea would be to set up a separate file on your computer so that you don't have to go searching for photos. Next year I'm hoping to get this done on a daily basis as I think it would be much easier. But, nevertheless, I still managed to finish it all except for Dec 24 & 25. That goes to show you that it doesn't take long to finish if you get behind (I had only completed through Day 7).

I kept embellishments to a minimum. I wanted the album to be more about the photos. I noticed that Ali Edwards did the same thing in her album and I like her philosophy about letting the photos tell the story. And since my album is only 6x6 that doesn't leave much room for "extras" anyway.

So here goes, days 8 through 15:

I haven't figured out what to do with the backside of day 9 yet. I'll probably put some kind of embellishment or something. But for now I just left it blank.

Day 12 has an envelope for the kids' letters to Santa. I also added a little journaling card in there since I didn't have room anywhere else for journaling.

I also added some velcro to the envelope to keep it closed. Don't want to lose those precious Santa letters!
Just a note on my journaling card about the parade ~ the paper is actually the backside of packaging when I bought some of the number tags. I *always* keep cute packaging for scrapping later!
Just noticed a little typo on day 15. Thankfully it was easily fixed!

That's it for now. I'm already in photo overload on this post! I'll share more days tomorrow!

December Daily ~ Week 1

I just finished up week one of my December Daily album. Thankfully, most of the work is done so it's just a matter of choosing and printing pictures and adding embellishments for the most part. I'm *so* glad I finished this book ahead of time!

Plus, it's been raining all day ~ perfect for catching up on some scrappin' (and making Christmas cookies but I'll save that for another post!)

I added some new Stampin' Up! striped ribbon and jingle bells. It makes me happy every time I pick up the album when the bells jingle!

So here's what I've finished so far:

I redid this page because, well, I just didn't like the first one I did. Too plain. Honestly, I think I just wasn't in a creative mood when I started. I kept looking at the page and it bugged me so I just did it over. I added a little Jenni Bowlin Christmas bingo tag and put the journaling on the backside. Still haven't figured out what I'm going to do with the left side. I think I may add our Christmas card in that spot (once I finish them that is!)

Day 2 is pretty simple. I added a cute ribbon bow to the "2" tag.

Day 3 is all about our Christmas lights outside. I cut a trading card page down to size and it fits 2 mini photos perfectly.

Day 4 I added a tag for journaling

Day 5 has another Jenni Bowlin bingo card, this time a bigger one. Photos are on the backside of the card along with an additional page for photos & journaling.

Day 6 is one of my favorites ~ Making Memories snowflake vellum. *Love* it!! I kept the page simple so I didn't hide the snowflakes in the vellum.

Added another cropped trading card page for additional photos. Photos are 2 1/2" x 3 1/2".

And that's it! I'm working on Days 8,9 & 10 so I'll have that to share soon :)
