You may have noticed all last week I had a linkydoo to The Nester's site over there on the right ----------->>>>>>>>>
...or maybe you didn't. Either way, she's having a Christmas tour of homes over there and I thought I'd join in. Not because I think my house is spectacular, or that I have the most awesomest decorations. Nope. In fact, my decorations are pretty sparce this year. But since I like to blog stalk, and I know there's a lot of you out there like me, I thought I'd share a few of my favorite holiday decorations.
...and if you're not into that sort of thing, click on and maybe I'll see you back here soon!! hehe
Christmas Trees
I have multiple Christmas trees in my home. It all started when I was about 9 or 10 yrs old. I went to a house that had Christmas trees in every room. I was in awe. And I always said that when I had my own house that's exactly what I was going to do. Now, not every single room has a tree. But we usually have at least 3 full size (or almost full size trees) in our house. Our family tree is always a real one. Loooove the smell of a real tree. No real theme, other than I have red accents on it.
I want to do the whole "white tree/brown ornaments" idea like I saw on the Nester's site last week. I bought the goodies for that but I haven't figured out a spot for it. It would match my bedroom perfectly but I need to figure out where to put it!
The fireplace
Normally I would have a lot going on on the fireplace. But this year I kept it simple. Some garland, lights, ribbon, and a few other accents. Oh, and of course, the stockings!Excuse the fact that there's a valance on one window and not on the other. I'm in the process of finishing up some window mistreatments (betcha know who I got that idea from!) Those stockings are one of my faves from Pottery Barn. I drooled over them for several years. And then one year I went ahead and bought them. And I've been so happy with them :)
Other decorations
Here's a few of my other favorite decorations....
My Dickens' village. I only have 3 buildings (and one isn't technically from the Dickens' village) but I love to set them out every year.
Remember that ottoman that I made over a while back? That got a quick update for the holidays complete with my December Daily on top from last year.
Bathrooms
Yes, I decorate my bathrooms for Christmas. Nothing elaborate. I think that bathrooms are the one neglected room in the house during the holidays, don't you?! Check out my cheery bathrooms, won't you?
The kids' bathroom. Isn't that shower curtain cute?! During the other 11 months of the year there's a duck shower curtain there. I'm so in love with that color on the walls. It's Navy 2 (or is it Navy 1?) from Laura Ashley. My son had that color in his room for a couple years. Makes me smile every time I see it.
And here's our guest bathroom...
Yes, I realize that shower curtain needs to be ironed. What can I say... Normally there's a green & burgundy shower curtain there. So my towels & rug match the holiday one. I added a metal bucket from the dollar bins at Target and put some holiday towels inside.
I hope you enjoyed my little tour. Like I said, my decorations were minimal this year. But I'm finding that I really like it! Be sure to share your holiday home with me :)
Merry Christmas!!!
