Although, my husband would disagree and thinks I should be using that 5 1/2 hrs for cleaning the house. Hmphf...stay back ladies, he's all mine!!!
I kid, I love him dearly :)
Back to the craftiness...here's a 2 pager of the Mackinac Bridge.
I found that cute die cut title in a gift shop in Mackinaw City. I backed it with some yellow patterned paper to make the title stand out more. It was a pain but worth the difference in how it looks.
I also stitched some ribbon haphazardly along the middle. I did not use any adhesive on the ribbon...cause sewing machines don't like adhesive. Don't know what they have against scrapbooking but whatever... ;) I simply held the ribbon in place as I stitched, folding it and turning it. Kinda reminds me of waves.
Everything I used except the ribbon & some buttons came from a previous Noel Mignon kit. The journaling was typed on my good 'ol typewriter.

This next layout from our trip is actually going in my son's scrapbook. I don't scrapbook an entire vacation for the kids' albums but I usually try to scrapbook one experience, one fun thing that happened, something from a trip to put in each child's personal scrapbook. That way when they look through their own books they have a special memory from a trip that's all theirs.
For this trip it had to be the boat ride to Mackinac Island. My son loved the boat ride and stood up for the majority of the ride there and back. He definitely enjoyed the ride!
The inspiration came from this layout. I knew I wanted to mimic water, bubbles, something similar to the water theme in the photos.
I added some circular stitching in blue thread to continue the circles theme.

I'm also working on altering this bad boy...
I know, you're probably wondering why I would change it at all since it's so pretty just the way it is, right??! {{NOT}} We'll see how it comes out. Hopefully I'll be sharing that soon :)

Love the stitched circles! I'm definitely bookmarking that one for later!
So funny about the shutter! I've been looking at mine lately wondering what I'm going to do with it :)
Oh my gosh! Did you know that I bought that same exact shutter last year and altered it?!!! I wonder if my Hobby Lobby has them again!
I posted it on my blog... I will post here if I can find it again!
I can't wait to see yours! I would LOVE to have some more of those shutters... it's been one of my favorite projects ever.
Here it is!

Have fun with yours! It's such a rewarding project!
I love the idea of just putting one page about vacation in each child's scrapbook. I always feel like I need to do something more than just a trip album and that's a great plan!
