very sad

I am very sad today. I have cried. For the first time I have cried over an election. Not because McCain did not win the election. But because I have realized that it is apparently ok to be dishonest. It is ok to have a questionable past and to even hide parts of it. It is ok to lie and tell people what they want to hear because not only is it ok but you will be rewarded for it. Because you will not be judged by your true character but by what you tell people you are. Being a war hero apparently doesn't matter. Making the right decisions when no one is looking doesn't matter. People think you're "milking" the fact that you were a POW. How insulting to all those that serve and have served for this country. Christian family values lost. True American spirit and values lost. And yet, my husband has to, at times, put his life in jeopardy for people who probably don't even appreciate it or care. It makes me sad.

Michelle...our challenge is to see and recognize what is evil, even when others try to make it seem good. I am going to try so hard to be hopeful and kind without being deceived. God's blessings to you and please thank your husband for his sacrifice.

Michelle,

I'm brand new to your site but an instant admirer. I read your comment on Ali's blog and in one sentence you brought tears to my eyes for expressing something I wanted to say but hadn't been able to put into words: "John McCain has proven he is a moral man when no one else in the world was looking."
Thank you for standing up to your beliefs. I look forward to getting to know you and enjoying your talent.
hugs,

Alex

As a Christian, I find it very interesting that everyone harps on abortion. YES, it is wrong, but since when is the government responsible for telling YOU what choices to make? The church is the only institution that should be in control of making or passing moral "laws" and for Christians to make our OWN decisions about what we believe is right and wrong...and in the end, we are all responsible for our own actions, not the actions of others.

Obama's been elected. Crying won't help. It's a done deal. We can only bond together from here. Cause after all, isn't that what Jesus would do?

I am always surprised when people say they are a Christian, that abortion is wrong, but they support others' right to choose. I believe abortion is wrong because it is murder. Watch a video on a late-term abortion. That is a HUMAN LIFE. And because of that belief I cannot support someone else's right to murder. A baby at 6,7,8 months old (in utero) is a viable life. Why, then, is it ok to be killed? Just because we CAN do something, doesn't mean we SHOULD.

I'm sorry you do not feel the same way. I appreciate your remark about "crying won't help". I don't think you truly understand why. Yes, we must come together. But that does not change my views.

Michelle,

I also found your site through the Ali Edwards blog and it really touched me. Yesterday, was one of the saddest days I can remember. I couldn't even watch the news. I knew John McCain probably wasn't going to win but I was holding out hope. It was to no avail. He is a good moral man and a true example of courage in so many ways that I wish more people could have seen this.

I linked over from Ali Edwards blog (capture. create.)
I have to agree with everything you said. It is a sad day and not because McCain lost... I was not a fan of either of them. However the next 4 yrs are going to be interesting and a bit scary.

As a Christian, I get very offended when others assume if you are not voting Republican, you are not a true Christian. I am not pro-abortion, I am pro-choice. There is a big difference. I just don't think it's the government's job to tell me or anyone else what to do with their body. People are not going to be running out and getting abortions just because Obama has been elected. That is a very narrowminded way to look at things. If you really want to help people who are in trouble, why don't you go out and adopt and foster all these abused and neglected children? That would serve a much better purpose than worrying that everyone is aborting their babies.

I also found you through Ali's blog. I, too, cried on election night, when I realized that babies have absolutely no chance with this man in power. I cannot believe that people would vote for a man that not only voted to keep late term abortions, but to NOT have a doctor help the babies that survive the procedure. It is not only sick, I think it is evil.
God bless you!

To say "go out and adopt or foster" isn't as easy as that. I would LOVE to adopt or foster. I have been trying to get pregnant for nearly a year. And people ask me "why don't you adopt" Do you know why? Because I don't have $20,000, that's why. And that's the average cost, whether it's in America or overseas. So adopting isn't just a cut and dry decision. It's not as easy as that. I would love to take in every child that didn't have a home. I certainly have the love for them.

Hi,

I just found your blog through the comment you left on Ali's blog as well & just wanted to let you know that I also agree with you! I proudly voted for McCain/Palin & also cried when they didn't win :(

I'm so scared for our country right now! Yes, we needed a change, but I still don't feel that Obama was the change we needed.

Kudos for you for posting how you feel! I also blogged about the election & how I felt about it afterwards.
