I just realized that I totally forgot to share this layout. A little while back I participated in a 'layout tag' on the Noel Mignon message board. The basic idea is that Noel emails you a layout to draw inspiration from, you create a layout & send it back, and then she sends your layout on to the next person in the chain. 

Kind of like a scrappy version of telephone! It's a lot of fun...you can check out the other layouts here.

2 months

This little stinker turned 2 months old last week. I caught this big toothless smile during our trip :)

I loved how the My Mind's Eye shaped paper looked with my photo so I started with that & built the page from there. Originally I had it backed with a more neutral cardstock but the paper seemed to fade away on that. Once I added the yellow cardstock it really popped.

And as I was adding these photos I realized my journaling was a bit wrong. She eats every 3 hrs, not 4. I think after typing the '4' in 4oz I had that in my brain. Funny how you sometimes don't realize a mistake til you put it on your blog. I'll be fixing that :)

hangin' in there

It's hard to believe that I've lived in Washington for 4 weeks now! The last month has been mostly a blur...getting settled, unpacking, enrolling the kids in school...all of the 'fun' things that go along with moving. I'm still waiting on phone & internet which is driving me a bit crazy!

Apparently when they came to hook up my phone & internet they discovered that I had no connection to the main box across the street. Last Thursday they came out to drill under the road (because we have underground utilities) and they broke their drill. Figures! So they came out again today & I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll hear from the phone company soon & we can get my internet up & running in the next week. Blogging while sitting in McDonalds is getting a bit old!


Anyway, we're discovering our new town & one of the things we love is that there is a great park just down the road from our house. My kids want to go there all the time! And since we had some beautiful weather yesterday we took some lunch & headed down there to enjoy the afternoon :)

I used Noel Mignon's Mary Ellen kit for this layout along with the alphas from Jump & Jive. I cut out those great flowers from the OA paper as an accent on the side of my photos along with those great wooden buttons...the ones that my puppy hasn't snatched from my craft table. Apparently he likes 'em, too ;)

I added some butterflies as a final accent. Can't get enough butterflies these days!

birthday cards

I'm still sifting through the last of my boxes & trying to get organized. I still don't have phone or internet...looks like I won't have it til sometime next week (I hope). Oh, and our {brand new} microwave has been out for the last week...waiting on a part for that so it can be fixed. Never a dull moment!

But I managed to get a few birthday cards done. My card reserves are pretty low so I need to replenish.

Not much to these cards, pretty simple :) I used Noel Mignon's Mary Ellen kit for these.

I love that We R Memory Keepers tag that came in the last kit...perfect embellishment for a card. I also added a Jenni Bowlin pearl flower that came in a previous kit.

I added some butterflies to this card accented with stickles. I just love that lace ribbon!

I also love using double sided patterned paper for cards because not only the outside of the card is pretty but so is the inside!

WA or bust

I wanted to share a layout I posted on the Noel Mignon blog last week. It was my first chance to scrapbook in a few weeks and man it felt good! Oh how I've missed my hobby!!! I have almost all of my supplies unpacked & somewhat organized...still have yet to find the handle to my cutter but I'm still holding out hope that it'll turn up!

Red alphas from Jump & Jive

I wanted to create a 'recap' layout of our road trip. Not a ton of details, just highlights, because I plan on scrapping about it in my Project Life album (which is now 3-4 weeks behind) and in my travel journal. I'll probably also do a separate 2 pager about Mt. Rushmore since that was a pretty significant stop along our journey.

But I wanted a layout to show some of the highlights of our trip.

That brown scallop above the top left photo is actually one of the ribbon packages that came in the kit.


I know the photos are of the best quality but I'm still working from my hubby's laptop without my photo editing software.

Can I just say that when I watched the video for this latest challenge at Noel Mignon I had the song in my head, like, all.day.long! hehe Is it bad that I'm old enough to remember that song way back when??? I probably shouldn't admit that... 

Anyhoo, here's my take on this latest challenge about scrapping things we love. I decided to go with the 'no picture' layout again (just like on the domestic goddess challenge layout in this post).

I used the Jump & Jive kit for this layout once again...such a fabulous kit :) Yes, my cardstock is bent. I dropped it. I'm pregnant...and clumsy. Enough said...

Now go scrap about the things you love!

And pray that we made it to Washington yesterday! 

glimpses of you

There's a new stamping challenge over at the Noel Mignon challenge blog. You can head over here & check out the details. Funny enough, without even knowing it almost all of us on the DT chose the Jenni Bowlin stamp from the Jump & Jive kit! Guess we all really liked that one :)

I decided to use some of the pics from the baby's ultrasound for this layout. I used the Pencil Lines sketch #231 along with the Jump & Jive kit (still a few left!)

I stamped the Jenni Bowlin stamp with a glue pad & then sprinkled some of that pretty, pretty turquoise Maya Road glitter that came in the kit.

I'm very excited about this next kit coming out at Noel Mignon. Just when I think I've seen my favorite kit, Noel does it again!

This one goes up for pre-sale next week and there's lots of buzz about it so I'm sure it will fly out of the shop fast! 

I'm really hoping I get mine before we move so I can take some goodies with me...and won't have to search through the mountain of boxes that will soon be my life when I need some scrappy time :)

My daughter had been asking me for weeks to get some Converse All Stars shoes. Every day she'd come home from school saying 'can we please, please, pleeeease go get them today??' But with all the house stuff I've just been too busy for the 'extras' like that.

So finally a couple weeks ago I took her...you know, after checking the web to make sure these weren't $50 shoes that she wanted. I very rarely buy name brand stuff, I'm mostly a bargain shopper. But I knew the day would come when my kids would start wanting this stuff. And it was nice to be able to give it to her :)

At the store she settled on the black ones with the pink cheetah flaps. So 'her' :) And she could not wait to get to school to show her friends.

So this layout is for the latest Noel Mignon challenge. This time we had to scraplift another member. And here's the member layout by Cassie aka 'gluemeetspaper' that I scraplifted:

As you can see, I used the basic design of her layout but then (as usually happens) it kind of morphed into a totally different one. Love when that happens! I had planned on doing a border at the top but after I cut my title I thought it wouldn't work right. Love those cute hearts she put across the top :) Thanks for the inspiration Cassie!

travel album {before}

I wanted to have a fun journal/scrapbook/mini-album to take with me to document our upcoming house hunting trip to Washington. Now even though I've made a ton of mini books before, I felt I needed a fresh approach to this one so I took an online class by Ali Edwards and it really gave me some new ideas for this book.

I used bits & pieces from several Noel Mignon kits including Jump & Jive, Very Virginia & Office Party (& there may have been another one in there!). I added a few bits from my own stash but the majority of goodies were from the kits. I just grabbed here & there to throw this one together. All of these photos are obviously the before pics. After my trip I'll share with you what the completed album looks like...hopefully with lots of fun tidbits from our travels :)

I started with a transparency for the cover with a white tag on the inside stamped with a fun airplane that I stitched around. Just a note - if you keep the bobbin the same color as your paper (in this case I used brown thread & white in the bobbin) you won't have the thread color showing through on the other side. Of course, if you're a sewer you already know this!

I also added some of that great twine to the white tag...can't get enough of it! Peeking behind that tag is a map that I scanned & printed out on white cardstock. Shhhh...don't tell!! I'm planning on getting another map to add to this book on my trip.

One of 2 Maya Road envelopes in this book. Love them. This envelope I'm planning on using to store extra Instax pics...my new favorite toy :)

Jillibean Soup shipping tag with some more shipping tags peeking out behind that backed with that wonderful Pink Paislee patterned paper that came in the Jump & Jive kit. Just perfect for this book!

You can also see I used some rub-ons from one of the kits (Office Party I think). I absolutely {love} the new Echo Park papers, especially this printed paper...and I love the fact that there's several sheets in the new kit!

Does everyone love that Jenni Bowlin stamp as much as I do??? For most of the pages that were patterned paper I actually cut the paper twice the width that I needed it, folded in half & adhered down to itself. I've found it makes the pages a bit more sturdier than simply cutting one piece of paper.

As soon as I pulled out the Echo Park paper with all of the tags on one side I immediately cut them apart & knew they would work great for this book. I added an October Afternoon travel sticker at the top (I used those stickers in several places in this book).

I used an envelope template to make that envelope from patterned paper. And that's it! Pretty simple...but it will look so different once filled with photos & memorabilia :)
