Fooled into thinking I might have a little bit of talent. I may have fooled some of my blog readers as well. Or maybe not :)
I've been recruited by my daughter's teacher and the school counselor to make a "carousel cake" for career day on Friday. I think they've mistaken me for someone who can actually do this cake justice! hehe Usually the only ones I have to impress with my cakes are the 8 and under crowd. We'll see how it goes. If you see it on this blog then it turned out ok. If not, well...
Wish me luck! By the way, if anyone has any suggestions for cake ideas (sites, pics, etc) I would love to see them. But none using fondant (unless it can be altered into a non-fondant cake). Haven't learned how to use fondant yet!
I did manage to fit in a little scrappiness yesterday. I was playing around with the "Seaside Cottage" kit from Noel Mignon. Great kit! I had this planner that I bought at CVS several months back. Yes, it's the end of Feb and I'm just now getting this thing decorated.
Boring 'eh?! Well, not anymore!
The kit worked great for jazzing up the cover. I used my Top Note Sizzix die and then stamped on it with a script stamp and some brown StazOn
(Sorry, I forgot to take a pic after I stamped it!) I also used my scallop circle Sizzix die along with a couple butterflies cut from the dictionary paper with my Martha Stewart punch.
And I absolutely love the crocheted flowers that came with the kit. They add a nice touch! By the way, when I'm creating covers like this, I like to go off the edge with my papers/accents. I attach them that way and then simply put it in my paper trimmer and cut the edge off. Easy peasy!
Inside the planner there's a couple pages to add photos so on the front of the first page I added a couple more embellishments...and a photo of my sweet pup :)
That's it for today. I'm off to decorate a cake...I hope :)
Girl, I have complete faith in you. And if you need a taste tester, I'm there for you!! BTW, love your planner :)

I found that one internet surfing yesterday. Isn't it cute?! I may try and use some of those elements on mine. Thanks!
