a few cards

And here are the cards that I worked on the other day. Simple but cute (I say that a lot, don't I?!) The first 2 are with scraps from my Zany Zinnia kit and the last is with patterned paper and a transparency from My Little Shoebox.

The bottom flower is a clear die-cut flower along with a flower I punched with my Stampin' Up! flower punch and a crocheted flower from Zany Zinnia.

It's hard to tell in the photo, but running underneath the flowers is a strip of the lace cardstock from KI Memories.

I added some dimensional glaze to the butterfly's wings to make her pretty :)

We spent the day out in the sun and water so I'm off to put some lotion on...got a bit burnt! Have a great day everyone!!

things I love about you

I have a few things that I've been working on to share today. The first is the Cosmo Cricket blackboard album I just finished that's all about my daughter and the things I love about her. I have so much fun with these albums! The papers are new from Fancy Pants. I also used K&Co. 3-D glittered flowers, Stampin' Up! white gel pen, a few stamps, and a few other cute embellishments :) To see more of the album, you can go to my 2Peas gallery.

I also have a few cards that I came up with that I'll share in a separate post :)

garden find

Check out these cute planters I found at a local antiques store last week. Their nested so there's 5 of them in different sizes.

I was looking for something that looked a bit "rustic" rather than the regular ol' pots that you find at Lowes. I really wanted one of those big wine barrel looking things but they're like $30 a piece...and I'm trying to be a bit frugal :) Anyway, this is what they looked like after I filled them with some flowers.

And here's a couple more pics from my paper reorganizing extravaganza last weekend :) My poor pup, couldn't get in my room with all the mess on the floor. It just kills him to not be in here with me!

And look at this big pile of paper that I'll be selling at the next yard sale at my LSS!! Now, in my defense, some packs are scraps and some of the paper was from near the beginning of this wonderful hobby. And some, well, I just looked at and thought "what was I thinking when I bought this??!"

I'm almost finished with my Cosmo Cricket blackboad album so I should have that to share tomorrow :)

weekend stuff, organizing

I hope everyone had a good holiday weekend! We did...didn't do much. Cleaned a little, BBQ'd a little, planted some flowers, just hung out as a family. I've enjoyed being able to sleep in a bit :) Thankfully my kids haven't been getting up early since school got out.

On Saturday I let the kids have a "slumber party" in the living room

Of course, my retriever wanted to be a part of the slumber party, too!

I also worked some more on organizing my scrap room. I decided to reorganize my patterned paper by manufacturer instead of by theme. This is what my floor looked like Saturday night

I "stole" the bookshelf from my son's room to help me organize and to free up some space in his room. It's really working out well in my scrap room.

I stacked all of my baskets on top of the bookshelf (yes, I have a bit of a problem collecting baskets...but I've controlled myself believe it or not!)

Here's a close-up shot of my paper organization. I think this system is going to work out very well. All of my paper is finally in one spot and it is so nice!

I'll share more organizing pics once I'm done getting this room in order.

I don't have any layouts to share today. I'm in the process of organizing my stuff for my cropping weekend next weekend :) I can't wait! So last night I was going through my kid's baby pics (pre-digital camera days) and scanned about 80 to have developed today so I can finish their albums (hopefully) next weekend.

I am working on a Cosmo Cricket blackboard album that I hope to share in the next day or two. I also have some cute flower pots that I found that I'll share in another post.

hot, hot, HOT

That's what it is here today ~ HOT!! I'm thinking that this weekend will involve a lot of outdoor water activities and suntan lotion!! We don't have much planned for the holiday weekend other than spending some time together as a family and maybe getting my son's room repainted.

Hopefully I can get that summer tan started!

I hope you all have a great weekend. I'll leave you with a layout I worked on last night from the May Zany Zinnia kit :)

Nugget Tin Teacher Gift

Last night I made a couple more of the nugget tins for my daughter's Kindergarten teachers. She had the choice of giving them the fruit spice jars or the nugget tins. She chose the nugget tins because her teachers *love* chocolate as she said! I used SU! Summer Picnic DS papers along with the Limitless Labels stamp set from Papertrey Ink. Ink colors are real red and pumpkin pie. I also made a gift card holder to go along with them and gave them each a gift card to Atlanta Bread Co. Simple but cute :)

This is how you make the gift card holder from a 8 1/2" x 11" sheet of cardstock:
* cut a strip of paper 3 1/2" x 11"
* score on the long side at 4 1/2" and 9"
* at the bottom portion of the card use the word window punch to make an opening for the gift card, fold over and adhere on the sides and top
* use velcro to attach the top flap
It's a gloomy day here today so it may be a good day for scrappin'! Then again, isn't every day a good day for scrappin'??

Beautiful Day, Sassafras

It's a beautiful day out ~ the birds are chirping, the flowers are blooming, there's a nice breeze. Don't ya just love days like that?!!

My hibiscus is starting to bloom and boy is it pretty!! They're one of my favorite flowers to have in a garden. I had to nurse it back to health because I didn't re-pot it right away after buying it so it started to get a bit droopy. But now it has a *ton* of buds on it and I'm so excited!!! I love this time of year. Here's a few happy flower pictures for you to take in :)

This is my favorite part of my yard ~ I'm surrounded by this:

And since I wasn't feeling all that great yesterday, I had a chance to crack into my May kit from Zany Zinnia. I just cannot get enough of these new papers from Sassafras Lass and Pink Paislee!! They're just all so yummy!!! Is that weird to say about scrapbook papers? I always feel so happy when I'm scrapping with their papers.

A few layouts

I hope everyone's having a good week. I've been taking things a bit slower this week. I'm having a flair up of my Crohn's disease this week BIG time. It doesn't happen too often. And really, it shouldn't be happening at all since most people with this disease go into remission for a few years after having surgery. I had surgery almost 2 years ago but leave it to me to be different! If you don't know what Crohn's disease is, it's basically a disease of the digestive system most often found in the lower part of the small intestine. From what I understand your body basically sees the normal bacteria in your intestines and thinks it's bad and tries to protect itself against it. They don't know exactly what causes it so therefore there's no cure. Great!! So needless to say I've been in a bit of pain this week and nauseated most of the day, every day since Monday. I'm hoping it'll be gone by the weekend. I have too much to do!! Anyway, sorry to bore you all with that...on to the fun stuff!!

I was going through some layouts and came across some new ones that I hadn't posted and a few older ones that I thought I'd share.

This one is a layout I did with the April Studio Calico kit. Everything in the layout was from the kit except for the Prima flowers and the button.

This is a layout I did with some patterned papers from My Little Shoebox (don't you *love* that name?!) They're having a design team call so I'm planning on submitting this layout along with a couple others. Wish me luck :) It's hard to tell in the photo but some I popped up some of the flowers along the right side and added glitter.

It's hard to tell in the photo but some I popped up some of the flowers along the right side and added glitter.

And here's a couple layouts I did a while back. This first one is of my daughter's "artwork" at preschool last year. I just thought the picture she painted was so cute ~ a description of getting ready in the morning, right down to her princess castle in her closet :) I love seeing artwork through the eyes of a preschooler! BTW, I made a color copy of her drawing and shrunk it to 70% because the paper it was on was not archival safe.

This layout is of my son playing in a big pile of dirt we had in our yard last year. The kids were in heaven!!

Here's a couple more:

Oh, and I added a slide show on the right side of my blog. I thought it would be fun to put some of my favorite projects on there. That's all for now. I'm hoping to scrap some more this weekend once my daughter is out of school for the summer :)

Nugget Tins

I've been busy the last week making year end teacher gifts and get well gifts. These are a couple of the gifts that I've made with the nugget tins from Papertrey Ink. They are so much fun to make and super easy! I've decorated the Hershey nuggets before with stamping on address labels but this time I used the Limitless Labels, also from Papertrey. So cute!! I paired that with the Summer Picnic DS papers from Stampin' Up! The first one was a get-well gift and the second set is a gift for my daughter's Sunday School teacher. I'm thinking next Christmas I'm going to decorate a bunch of these for teacher gifts. Also, I'm thinking of adding these gift sets to my etsy shop within the next week or 2, so be sure to head over there if you need a cute gift set for someone!

On a side note, I have become aware of a great blog called Pages 4 Parker. Please check it out and do what you can. When you read the story of this sweet little boy your heart will go out to him and his family.

Layouts from class

We had another great layout class today! And I think we finished in record time. I don't think I've ever had a class get done that quick!! I hope you all had fun. I always do!

Here are the layouts from class to give you some inspiration when you're adding your photos and embellishments to your layouts :)
